Product Description

The KEF LS50 is one of the best loudspeakers to be released in recent years, and has won virtually every award possible. KEF LS50 50th Anniversary are innovative speakers derived from the legendary LS3/5a, the LS50 mini monitor speaker, a professional studio monitor designed to bring recording studio quality sound into your home. Enjoy your music more by hearing it accurately and more closely to the original sound of the recording.

For what is rarely the case in such a compact design, the LS50 monitors deliver a rich, multi dimensional soundstage experience, filling the room with beautiful sound that is out of all proportion to their size. This model includes (at time of writing) patent pending acoustic designs, together with state-of-the-art technologies from the flagship KEF Blade speakers.

In thanks to their advanced design, with respect to their heritage, the LS50 provide the ultimate studio experience - even in the smallest of spaces.

Cabinet Design

Creating a small housing capable of delivering such a spacious sound is the result of considerable research and development. In cabinet construction, baffle shaping and port design, LS50 breaks new ground with patent-pending technology. All this is made possible by KEF’s leadership in modern research (including techniques such as Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics). LS50’s unique technology offers by far the cleanest, most accurate studio-grade performance of any mini monitor.

Uni-Q Drivers

LS50 employs revolutionary technology developed for Blade, KEF’s latest flagship loudspeaker. Using the very latest Uni-Q driver, specifically designed for this model, LS50 radiates an extremely large listening sweet spot and delivers a remarkably fast, clean sound. And, because LS50 neither adds nor subtracts a single sound, it’s effortlessly natural and accurate too.

Press Reviews

  • 'Explicit details of myriad sound effects cut easily throgh the mix. This is a cracking little speaker, sweetly voiced yet highly revealing of source quality, it suprises and delights in equal measure. And it sounds big, defying its compact dimensions. It deserves to be a runaway success for KEF.' (Hi-Fi News Magazine Yearbook 2012)

  • 'The cabinet is not only beautifully finished but is sturdily constructed with constrained layer damping between its walls, internal cross-brace and front baffle. As promised, the LS50 delivers a remarkably big sound with vivid imaging and a tremendous bass weight that belies its compact dimensions. Shut your eyes and you’ll believe you are listening to a far bigger loudspeaker.' (EISA Award 2012-2013)

  • 'For: Design; premium feel; outstanding bass for their size; transparent and detailed. Against: They demand quality electronics.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine April 2013)

  • 'The LS50s have set a ridiculosuly high benchmark. Its going to take a superhuman effort to top them.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine April 2013)

  • 'A cracking little speaker of which KEF’s design engineers must be most proud. Sweetly voiced yet highly revealing of source quality, it surprises and delights in equal measure. And boy does it sound big, defying its compact dimensions.' (Hi-Fi News Magazine)

  • 'Given a little space to breathe and mounted on a pair of solid stands these monitors sound terrific. The first thing that strikes us is the quality of the bass performance...for boxes that stand just 30cm high, these speakers deliver deep, agile and powerful lows from the likes of Massive Attack’s Flat of the Blade. But, unlike most small speakers that deliver big bass, the LS50s don’t over-egg things – everything sounds balanced...move up the frequency range and these KEFs continue to impress. Kate Bush’s vocals on 50 Words For Snow are as clear and articulate as you could wish for. These speakers communicate the energy and drive in a piece of music brilliantly.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine)

  • 'We’re impressed by the speaker’s seamless integration too, as we are by the way it sets up a huge stereo image populated by securely focused sounds...and, perhaps most importantly, these speakers are fun to listen to. It’s not something (we think) KEF has always managed with its products. Here it has.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine)

  • 'Of course, the LS50’s innate transparency means that any flaws in the partnering kit will be apparent. But get it right and you have what is one of the best standmounters below £1000, and easily one of KEF’s most musical efforts in years.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine)

Just got mine today, they're absolutely beautiful, so well made and finished, this is before I even heard them!

Sound glorious, so smooth and tight, I use Chord Epic.

Very impressed with the KEF LS50. Very solidly built, and clearly a lot of attention has gone into the new Uni-Q drivers, as they sound incredibly accurate.

Also listened to the R100 when trying the LS50 which, although no slouch, is eclipsed by the accuracy and soundstage of the LS50. The bass performance in particular is incredible for a speaker of its size.

Personally, think the LS50 would still be a five star product at double the price. A great product from a great british manufacturer. 10/10!
