Product Description

JVC DLA-X5500 D-ILA 4K Home Cinema Projector in black features JVC’s original D-ILA, 4K e-shift4 and advanced technologies that project detailed stunning images onto a large screen.

The DLA-X5500 projector delivers brightness up to 1,800 lumens with a high native contrast ratio of 40,000:1 for peak whites and deep blacks. Adding to this, an Auto HDR picture pre-set for best compatibility with UHD 4K HDR content, a low latency mode for improved gaming and Hybrid Log Gamma for future HDR broadcast and streaming content.

Enhancements

The DLA-X5500 improves on the previous DLA-X5000 model with the addition of a 265W High-Power Lamp and Narrow Pixel Gap along with Motion Enhance Technology. Motion Enhance reduces residual images and blurring that are often found in fast-moving images by optimally controlling the drive of the 6th generation 0.7" Full HD D-ILA (1920 x 1080) device.

4K Projection

It achieves 4K Projection at 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution through the optical engine featuring e-shift 4 Technology with a Multiple Pixel Control image processor. Clear Motion Drive is compatible with signals up to 4K60P 4:4:4 and can reproduce moving images without ghosting or afterimage issues. The projector has an exceptionally bright 1,800 lm achieved with a 265W high-output NSH lamp. The ultimate dynamic contrast ratio of 400,000:1 and native contrast ratio of 40,000:1 is enabled by the original D-ILA device and the high-output lamp.

4K e-Shift

JVC creates a separate A and B frame from the original 4K data with no interpolation. The correct pixels are selected for each frame and working at double the conventional speed, the projector's 4K e-shift3 mechanism takes each B frame and shifts it down over ½ a pixel creating four 4K sub-pixels in the space of one HD pixel. The viewers’ eyes and brain combine the A and B frame to create the projected image seen on screen. The projector detects the original resolution, analyses the data by frame and pixel then selectively applies detail enhancement, dynamic contrast and smoothing in the 4K scaling process.

Pixel Adjust

The maximum 2D Resolution is 3840 x 2160, while 3D is 1920 x 1080. Pixel Adjust function allows the user to precisely correct colour deviation in 1/16-pixel increments; also segments the screen into 121 points for individual adjustment. Two customised settings can be stored in the memory. To match the trends towards higher resolution and to deliver immersive high-definition 4K images, Multiple Pixel Control has been improved with a new analysis algorithm capable of more accurate diagonal-detection between frames for full HD and 4K resolution signals.

3 Chip D-ILA

Through constant refinement D-ILA (Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier) ultimately displays technology for HD home theatre. The reflective properties make it highly efficient, offering excellent brightness for today's most demanding sources. The combination of the latest generation optical engine and the highly reflective surface provide a remarkable picture with ample contrast even in a room with ambient light. D-ILA projectors are characterised by natural pixel-free images with smooth grey scale and rich, highly accurate colours, thanks to tightly-spaced pixels and liquid crystal blending. There is no spatial dithering that causes noise in low black levels.

Lens Design

Many home theatres have obstructions or other installation challenges. With a 100" widescreen, a 2x Zoom makes it possible to set up the projector between 11 to 23 feet. The ±80% vertical and ±34% horizontal lens shift enables far more flexibility as the picture can be easily moved horizontally or vertically. As a result, the projector does not need to be perfectly centred with the screen. The DLA-X5500 features a motorised lens cover that opens and closes in synchronisation with power on/off to protect against dust. Even if the projector is installed on the ceiling, you are assured of easy, trouble-free operation via the remote control.

Color Management System

In addition to the ordinary 6-axis matrix of red, green, blue, cyan, magenta and yellow; a seventh matrix for orange is included. The CMS provides for precise adjustment of hue, saturation and brightness for each colour to allow accurate calibration of the colour gamut. The orange axis helps pinpoint the colour spectrum for skin tones. For improved operability, only the colour being adjusted is shown on screen while the others are displayed in black and white. JVC D-ILA projectors have screen adjustment modes that enable users to select the optimum mode to match screen characteristics for more natural and balanced colour reproduction.

Clear Motion Drive

Clear Motion Drive 3 is a high-speed display process designed to improve video with rapid movement. It has been drastically improved for use in 4K and 3D as well as Full HD. JVC further enhanced detection interpolation technology through high precision algorithms. Two modes are available to smooth motion in a wider range of video content. Clear Motion Drive reduces blur generated by high-speed scenes enhancing the viewing experience.

Various Modes

For easy reproduction, the projector switches automatically to HDR picture mode when HDR10 signals are received. The Low Latency Mode suppresses display delay for faster response when receiving signals from PC and game consoles while compatibility with Hybrid Log-Gamma comes into use for broadcasting applications.

Connectivity

Covering a wide variety of applications, the DLA-X5500 has dual HDMI (3D, Deep Colour/HDCP 2.2) inputs along with RS-232C (D-sub 9pin), LAN (RJ-45), Trigger (Mini jack) and 3D Sync (Mini DIN). Wireless transmission options for 3D viewing include RF (radio frequency) system transmission with PK-AG3 3D Glasses for 100H continuous operation and PK-EM2 3D Synchro Emitter (sold separately).

The HDMI inputs are capable of handling data transfer rates up to 18Gbps which can deliver full spec native 4K signals such as 4K60p 4:4:4, 4:2:2/36bit and 4K24p 4:4:4/36bit.
