The box contained all needed cables and AC adapters. The price is very good...I had some problems with the courier but I solved them thanks to fast email interaction with Audio Affair and some phone call.

Ortofon 2M Red Cartridge

Many thanks to Audio Affair for its very speedy delivery of my Ortofon 2M Red cartridge. Excellent service. The 2M red is a temporary cartridge while my Ortofon Royal N SPU is being fixed. The 2M performance, for the price, is superb. It resolves detail and handles the frequency extensions better than many MC carts I have had in the past. Phil Eden

Ortofon Salsa Moving Coil cartridge (on exchange)

Dear Audio Affair, 

Thankyou for your email, and also for the SALSA cartridge, which arrived on Friday morning. I have been delayed in returning the old MC15 cartridge, partly by a troublesome cold and cough and partly by a fall in the garden which resulted in a damaged hand. However, things improved today, and I succeeded in removing the old cartridge and installing the new one, following the instructions which I had retainedwhen I bought the new turntable two years ago. The Salsa cartridge is fitted in a turntable, linked to a NAD amplifier and floor-standing KEF loudspeakers. 

The first thing I did after fitting the cartridge was to play my Decca stereo-test record: the equipment passed every test - channel separation, lack of wow and flutter etc. - with flying colours. Then I played some of my favourite music - piano, opera, a violin concerto, vocal pieces -  and `I was very pleased with the results. The cartridge gives a bright sound - but not too bright - and is very detailed: individual instruments come through very clearly. The piano was particularly good - one could almost imagine that the piano was in the room! In short, I am very pleased with the new cartridge, and look forward to a long period of enjoyment with my records.

Chord Electronics RED Reference CD Player

My kit consisted of a pair of Martin-Logan "Quest" electrostatic speakers, driven by Chord power and pre-amps. For CD play I used a Meridian 508 using an outboard Chord DAC64 for digital conversion.  I thought the quality of the sound was pretty well peer-less..... until Alex at Audio Affair gave me a demo of the Chord Red Reference. 

From listening tests it was clear to me that the Red Reference offered a further step improvement over my already excellent Meriden CD player and DAC64. In addition Alex was able to set up a very useful part-exchange deal that removed much of the pain of the expense of the Red Reference (that retails at c. £14k.) 

I now have full Chord components from CD player to power amp. The quality of sound my system now delivers is far more detailed, more full, just simply more "musical". 

The Red Reference is a very expensive piece of kit. However, as a one-off, life-time purchase, as representing the very best sound quality obtainable from CD-format, in my view, it is worth it.

Clearaudio Blue Emotion Turntable

Hi Alex, 

A few words on my new toy........... 

Sound is fantastic - it reproduces a very rich vinyl sound with plenty of depth + detail. Music is given a new dimension at low volume. At higher volumes it is natural sounding and smooth. It is a more satisfying listen than the clinical sound of CDs. In terms of build quality, it really lives up to its' Made In Germany marque. The engineering is typically German; the precision machined parts are perfect and flawless. Materials used are weighty and of high quality. Set-up may be tricky for first timers, and the typically German-English instructions requires careful examination. I'm very happy with the Emotion and am glad I went for Clearaudio as it seems their turntables are works of art as well as being music reproducers of the highest order.

The P10 has arrived safety and is running in well. Buying the P10 from you I found to be quick and easy experience... Thank you for your offer on the Mini Sub, my system is using Mini Subs at present.  In the future I will be replacing my Linn K9 cartridge in my LP12/Akito/Valhalla turntable and would like to know what you fell is a suitable replacement that would make improvements to the Phono Stage and Turntable combination performance.

Atacama XL Pro Stand (base with additional shelves)

Hi,

Just wanted to say thanks that after all the scheduling, emailing etc... we did receive our Atacama Equinox XL Pro SE Hi-Fi Stand Base + Shelf and are happy with the product as it looks great with our HiFi system.

But... I was not able to find any enclosed base pads for the spikes from the base unit to rest on. To provide spikes and then not have enclosed pads seems a bit odd. We have wooden floors and the pads are a must for us.

Did Atacama forget to include them? If so, would it be possible for you to mail us a set? Appreciate your help.

Ortofon 2M Blue Cartridge

I have it installed and working and am 'breakin it in' gradually.  It tracked some fairly dynamic stuff very well right from the outset and the sound seems to be slowly mellowing so I think it will sound very nice after several more hours playing.
