The Grado PS1000e are the latest version of these iconic, flagship headphones which deliver new standards for reference level headphones, and potentially the best headphones in the world! The PS1000e is the culmination of decades of Grado's knowledge and experience in controlling resonances and eliminating distortions. As with all Grado products the most important aspect is the sound.
Grado have eliminated two of the main issues in headphone design - chamber ringing and transient distortion, thanks to the use of ton-wood clad with metal alloy. This gives audiophiles and professionals alike the assurance of consistent frequency response.
The PS1000e design is one of hand-crafted mahogany inner sleeve, using the new curing process developed specifically for the e series. The outher housing is precision machined from chrome-plated aluminium, adopting a special processing and casting method which increases the porosity of the alloy.
The use of both wood and metal ensures there is no ringing in the headphone chamber which can obscure detail and colour sound. The rigidity and manner in which the wood and metal housing moves air and reacts to vibration means sound is unaffected by transient distortions resulting in an incredibly crisp and clear sound.
The New e Series
Grado have redesigned and rethought every element of the e Series headphones, right down to the glue that is used. The PS1000e have benefited from a new 50mm driver redesign as well as a newly configured voice coil and diaphragm design which result in an unsurpassed speed and accuracy in response. Grado has also designed the cable for the PS1000e; the twelve-conductor cable design uses UHPLC (Ultra-High Purity, Long Crystal) copper, improves control and stability of the total range of the frequency spectrum.
