The Focal Aria 936 is a floorstanding speaker which both looks and sounds incredible. Staying true to the premium build quality of the rest of the Aria range, the Aria 936 is finished to the very highest quality, utilising noble materials throughout. The base is stable and made from aluminium alloy, whike a high quality leather front and back add a touch of class. The cabinet is ultra-rigid to ensure neutrality, made from an exquisite wood veneer.
Focal's new Flax driver technology ensures neutrality and a natural tone, and offers stunning integration with Focal's TNF tweeter. The TNF tweeter features poron suspension, resulting in an immensely smooth sound. The use of a polyurethane tweeter plate with waveguide results in improved horizontal directivity and pinpoint sound imaging.
The Focal Aria 936 feature superbly natural sound, and immense holographic presence and soundstaging thanks to the three way design and multiple-port powerflow system. This offers two front ports which result in greater dynamics and impact, which is further enhanced by the floor-facing vent.
The flax cones have been designed for maximum acoustic performance as well as original and unique design. After five years of extensive research the flax sandwich cone was produced, made from high-quality flax fibres. Characterised by natural sound, low colouration, rich midrange and tight, rhythmic bass.
1 May 2015I have just purchased a full Aria 5.0 speaker system consisting of 936's, 900sr's and a 900cc.
In stereo using my LP12 and Superuniti, the sound can only be described as wonderful. Crisp clean highs, with no hint of hardness or aggression, open clear mids, and a powerful but controlled deep bass. Stereo seperation is first rate with a good 3d soundstage and precisely positioned vocals and instruments - close your eyes and you are there.
In 5.1 mode with my Velodyne impact 12 filling in below the 32Hz where the big boys roll off, it is a better sound than my local cinema. The centre has the right weight to make the voices real, and the dipole rears disapear but throw the effects all around the room.
If you are in the market for just a stereo pair of speakers, the 936's are an astonishingly good buy (I think they are well worth the little extra over the 926's for the extra bass and weight if funds allow) and the cinema sound is jaw dropping.
Mine are only 25 hours into their running in period of 120 hours. I can't wait to hear them at their best!
