Product Description

Elac Adante AS-61 delivers official Adante sound like its floor speaker sister AF-61. As an ideal solution for a 2-channel music system or as the basis for a surround installation. Tthe term "bookshelf speakers" does not do the AS-61. Rather, it is an uncompromising monitor for demanding listeners. Matching stands are also available (and recommended).

Adante Line

After seemingly irrefutable laws have been shaken by the ELAC debut and Uni-Fi speaker line, the path leads consistently to an even more ambitious project.
Setting a new benchmark and further refining seemingly mature ones will not succeed without new ideas and high costs. Yet this was combined and reflected in the elaborately designed and precisely manufactured loudspeaker enclosure of the Adante line. All three Adante loudspeakers, the AF-61 tower speaker, the AS-61 compact speaker and the AC-61 center speaker have been designed from the ground up with their design solutions and superb craftsmanship to create a stunning speaker trio that is like no other in the world the world sounds and looks.

Interport Coupled Cavity

A special feature is the ICC principle (Interport Coupled Cavity) used in the reproduction of the low frequency range. An active chassis works in and together with a bass reflex construction on another volume, which emits the sound energy through a passive membrane in the front. Due to the natural superiority of this system bass is extremely dynamic and true to life. Due to the complex development and the high demands on the production, such designs are rare with affordable loudspeakers. Andrew Jones took on the challenge of developing a speaker without compromise and with the best price / performance ratio.

Housing

Each Adante housing consists of several individual housings. The coaxial mid / tweeter is housed in its own - isolated from the environment - space in the housing, all low-frequency arrangements, each consisting of an active and a passive chassis, are also housed in their own chambers, which are internally connected to 2 bass reflex tubes; in the case of the compact speaker one, in the center two and in the floor speaker three chambers. The general advantage of an ICC enclosure is that there is no outward bass reflex connection. Thus, this design is free of ventilation noise or other distortion artifacts when the speaker is overdriven.

Precise Power

However, the ICC concept offers another special feature, as the active loudspeaker chassis is concealed from the outside invisibly inside the housing and gives off its energy, as does the bass reflex tube, via the larger passive radiator on the surface. This presents the musical information more precise and powerful than would be possible in a conventional system with external bass reflex tube. The special housing construction also offers decisive advantages for processing the electrical signals through the crossover network. With the use of the ICC technology, an acoustic low-pass response is associated with the characteristic of a second-order filter. So not only the electrical filters of the crossover can be made very efficient, but also possible artifacts of distortions are effectively suppressed by the acoustic filter.

180mm Woofer

The first woofer is a 180mm aluminum dome woofer with an aluminum cast basket and large magnet system for a wide frequency range. The aluminum dome is fast and stiff with very little distortion and maximum bass. The fact that the woofer is built into the case, it is indeed invisible to the eye, but very audible to the ear. Each of the active woofers is joined by a lightweight 200mm passive radiator flush with the baffle. The passive radiator is equipped with a stiff aluminum dome and a cast basket. Its low weight makes it a fast chassis and insensitive to distortion artifacts compared to active chassis of the same size. Thus, air is moved quickly and without discoloration.

Coax Midrange Tweeter

With the brand new coaxial chase technology in terms of linearity, maximum load capacity and attention to detail, ELAC breaks new ground for almost any kind of music. The large 135mm midrange, with a pure aluminum diaphragm (for maximum stability and minimal tonal discoloration), features a new design with a 50mm voice coil, resulting in higher maximum sound pressure and sensitivity than comparable coaxial chassis. The large voice coil offers more space for the newly developed tweeter located in the center of the midrange. For this, both a wide bead and a new base material were used allowing a lower cutoff frequency.

Four Terminals

Equipped with 2 terminal pairs, the speaker can be powered by a standard 2-pin speaker cable using the supplied jumpers. If the bridge is removed, you can bi-wire with an amplifier or bi-amp with 2 amplifiers, where one terminal set drives coaxial mid-range tweeter, the second pair drives the woofers.
