The Chord Signature Reference Speaker Cable builds on the immense success of the original Signature cable, managing to produce even more detail and resolution. Using technologies developed for Chord's signature Sarum range, improvements and developments have been made to make this one of the best sounding speaker cables available.
The Signature Reference is designed to be incredibly neutral, transparent and capable of creating improvements and revealing layers of detail in any system.
Signature Reference - Rebuilt From the Ground Up
Chord have made significant improvements to the shielding, the spacing between conductors and shielding and all the materials used have been changed. The Signature Reference utilises silver-plated conductors, adding detail and resolution, combined with PTFE insulation. The new shielding is also higher density.
The changes and improvements have had staggering effects. The original Signature cable already offered stunning detail levels and ability to carry dynamic information, but the Signature Reference takes these characteristics to another level, bridging the gap between Signature and the reference Sarum range.
Signature Reference is built in the same way as the original Signature. Each set is made to order and the two conductors are held in place with a precision machined aluminium clamp and twisted along their length to improve flexibility (Signature Reference is markedly more flexible than the original Signature). The aluminium clamp is designed to hold the cable securely but avoid any compression on the cable itself. Like Signature, Signature Reference is available in red and black and also in all black as well. We loved the look of the original Signature but we think that Signature Reference looks wonderful in all black.
Why spend this much on speaker cables?
After using Chord Signature, many customers have been surprised by how much noise previous cables allowed through. Signature allows you to hear more space around individual voices and instruments, fine and delicate details and a natural and coherent soundstage that in no way sounds forced or jumbled.
No matter how complex the music, Signature doesn't falter in its ability to create a natural and realistic soundstage. Tonally, the cable is neutral and will portray the very subtle dynamic changes that are so vital to music reproduction. No matter what your system, the innovative design of Chord Signature speaker cable will transform the sound and really bring your music or soundtracks to life.
When you've spent a considerable amount of money on your investment in speakers (£800+ but usually £2000+), this is a speaker cable that allows you to hear the very best sound possible from your speakers. Its a cable that you invest in and forget about because you should be hearing fully what your speakers have to offer.
Available by the metre, or select whichever length you prefer, including 1.5m pair, 2m pair, 2.5m pair, 3m pair, 3.5m pair, 4.0m pair, 4.5m pair, 5.0m pair, 5.5m pair, 6m pair, 6.5m pair, 7m pair (please call us for the best deal if you require longer).
30 Day Money Back Guarantee
You have a full 30 days to assess the cable in your system and can send it back if you are not happy with the improvement.
Chord Signature speaker cable is the result of several years' experimentation with shielded cables. The first prototype was so stiff it was virtually unusable, and a great deal of work went into producing the same performance in a more flexible design. The insulation is a gas-foamed polyethylene, which has several major advantages. It produces a lower dielectric constant and better phase stability, both of which contribute to the Signature's outstanding performance. Each set of Signature speaker cables is factory terminated by Chord and although conductor pairs are separately shielded, the cable is twisted along its length to improve flexibility.
What systems work well with Signature?
Signature speaker cable will work consistently well from system to system, to some extent regardless of cost. There is an assumption that expensive cables belong with expensive systems. This is not necessarily the case. One of the most compelling demonstrations of what a set of properly shielded interconnects and speaker cable can bring to a system came when the cost of the interconnects and speaker cables was the same as the combined cost of the CD player, amplifier and speakers.
What interconnect cables should I use with Signature speaker cable?
Chord Signature was developed to work in conjunction with the Chord Signature interconnects. However, its performance characteristics also make it an ideal choice for use with the less expensive Chord Anthem and flagship Chord Indigo interconnects as well. The design principles of all three cables are very similar and despite the differences in construction, conductor and insulation materials, all three cables will work extremely well together.

"One of the most effective upgrades you will ever hear if you own expensive kit. If you're lucky enough to own a sufficiently high-end set-up (we're talking £6k minimum here), add a few metres of Chord Signature to your system and hear the overall performance take a leap upwards. The thrilling dynamics will put a grin on the face of anyone who experiences them." (What Hi-Fi Magazine Awards October 2013)
