Product Description

Manufactured to exacting 110 ohm specification, the Sonata VS-1 GN Legacy cable is ideal for enhanced sound quality on semi-balanced RCA terminations compared to conventional interconnects.

Low Transient Phase Distortion

The Sonata VS-1 provides an extremely clear expression of a singer’s voice and isolates musical instruments remarkably through a dramatic reduction of ‘Transient Phase Distortion’.

This is achieved by using thicker insulation than usual to increase the distance between conductors and consequently the magnetic field seen in each conductor wire. The result is cleaner listening and more open sound quality.

Low Microphony design

Employing a special conductive low microphony layer, the cable eliminates triboelectric effects caused by friction between the screen and the insulation. This separation uses a special conductive layer allowing the charge to be quickly dissipated and preventing microphonic noise voltages generated.

Such noise modulates the sensitive electrical signal that creates music through the speakers with easily audible phase distortion. Eliminating this distortion gives the music more clarity, ambience and experience of the music’s emotional qualities.

Anti RFI / EMI Technology

Covered in a tightly braided screen, the Sonata VS-1 protects the inner cores from picking up radio frequency interference with further screening provided by conductive ‘low microphony’ layers and twisted cores. Connected at end only to prevent ‘loop aerials’ , the twisted cable has a lower surface area preventing it from picking up RFI/EMI signals generated from Radio, Wifi and Mobile Phones etc.

Additional complementary filtering techniques are applied ensuring any interference is effectively neutralised preventing audible distortion. All treatments are designed to reduce the amount of audible distortion in the cable, allowing purer sounds from your equipment.

Advanced Manufacturing

Two silver plated copper cores are used for positive and negative signal flows, which are connected in opposite directions for ‘blacker’ silences in the interval between notes and enhances reproduction of the musical edges and natural decays.

High End Rhodium Plated Connectors

Terminated with specially designed Graham Nalty Legacy Range GN-4 RCA connectors, the cable has been manufactured to the very best sound quality is delivered. The plugs are Rhodium plated to maintain a cleaner and less corroded contact between the plug and socket. The benefit of rhodium plating over gold plating is a much livelier and more exciting sound from the music.

Vibration Stabiliser

The Sonata VS-1 is fitted with a Graham Nalty legacy Range VS-1 Vibration Stabiliser on each cable, specifically designed to reduce audible distortion in cables by restricting the effects of vibrations moving through conductor wires.

Press Reviews

  • 'Extensive attention to detail appears to have been applied to every element of its design and construction. At its heart are two silver-plated copper cores for positive and negative signal flows. Some audiophiles claim copper cables give more satisfying bass weight and pure silver cables provide subjectively sweeter, more extended treble, but many would agree that, done well, silver-plated copper can deliver the best of both worlds.' (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine June 2015)

  • 'Some competitive cables would appear to have more fulsome warmth around vocal frequencies, but the cleanliness of this midband is very compelling and almost certainly more accurate.' (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine June 2015)

  • 'Refined, extended treble, firm, deep bass and a beautifully coherent and communicative midband seamlessly flowing from very dark silences demonstrates that Black Rhodium has successfully addressed distortion. Thoroughly recommended.' (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine June 2015)
