Audio Technica AT-PHA100 portable headphone amplifier features built-in USB DAC engineered using innovative, hand-selected audio components for superb sound reproduction. It is designed to be compact so that it is a similar size to a smartphone, however it still packs a powerful punch.
A built-in USB digital-to-analogue converter is incorporated to reproduce a higher clarity sound with less interference and extended volume range. Texas Instruments LME49720 op-amp suppresses distortion for crystal clear mid to high frequencies.
The ES9018K2M Reference used is a high-performance 32-bit, 2-channel audio digital-to-analogue converter. With patented HyperStream architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator, it delivers a dynamic range of up to 127dB and –120dB of total harmonic distortion plus noise; a performance level that will satisfy the most demanding audio enthusiasts.
It can handle up to 32-bit, 384kHz PCM data via I2S, DSD-11.2MHz data as well as mono mode for highest performance applications. Both synchronous and ASRC modes are supported.
Compatible with PCM 384 kHz/32 bit and high fidelity DSD sources, the AT-PHA100 gives headphones a rich, detailed boost throughout the sonic range with ultra-low distortion. Specially selected, discrete circuitry enhances the resolution throughout the frequency range.
The headphone amplifier is equipped with both analogue and digital inputs. There is a 1m USB cable (USB 2.0 to USB micro-B) and a 10cm audio cable terminated with 3.5mm gold-plated stereo mini plugs at each end.
The design of the AT-PHA100 features a high/low gain switch, five-stage sampling indicator for digital input and machined aluminium volume knob for a premium finish effect.
Audio Technica have smartly included two rubber bands and a rubber mat for securing the amp to a smartphone or portable audio device. The internal rechargeable lithium polymer battery lasts up to 14 hours when amplifying an analogue signal and up to 6 hours for a digital signal.
