Product Description

Audio Technica AT-LP3 is a revolution in automation, it blends outstanding analogue sound with advanced features unique to a fully automatic belt-drive turntable.

Play 33⅓ & 45 RPM records with a pre-mounted AT91R Dual Moving Magnet phono cartridge whilst the tonearm’s removable universal headshell and switchable cartridge mode allows listeners to experiment with moving magnet and moving coil cartridges.

MM / MC Cartridge

Switchable MM/MC mode allows the listener to use both Moving Magnet and Moving Coil cartridges on their LP3, allowing for greater sonic customisation – a unique feature not found on most turntables with a built-in phono preamplifier.

AT91R Dual MM

Specially designed for the LP3, the AT91R Dual Moving Magnet phono cartridge incorporates an aluminium cantilever for higher rigidity and improved pick-up of subtle details.

Universal Headshell

Removable universal AT-HS3 headshell allows users to upgrade their cartridge to further enhance their sound. Suitable for 1/2" mount cartridges and 4-pin turntable arms.

Balanced Tonearm

Incorporating a hydraulically-damped lift control and lockable rest, the LP3’s straight balanced tonearm includes a radial ball bearing for horizontal movement and pivot bearings vertical movement.

4.5mm Platter Mat

Reducing unwanted vibration and for stable play, the LP3 includes a 4.5mm thick rubber platter mat.

Press Reviews

  • 'Best turntable under £200' (What Hi-Fi Awards 2017)

  • 'One of the best automatic turntables we've ever heard… Audio Technica has fashioned a turntable with all the ease of use and affordability of suitcase record players, but one that also follows the rules of hi-fi.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine June 2017)

  • 'In terms of performance, we could direct you to our AT-LP5 review. You can take away a little of the detail, space and dynamic range, but characteristically, there’s no mistaking these are from the same family.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine June 2017)

  • 'At this price we may have been tempted to forgive some soft or hard edges if they were countered elsewhere, but there really aren’t any. The soundstage isn’t cavernously spacious, nor the detail microscopic, though in both respects still probably more so than you’d expect at this price, there’s no clipping of frequencies and no coarseness here.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine June 2017)

  • 'there’s scale and power enough to give the performance heft, without it feeling like the orchestra has been squashed into the soundstage against its will. It grasps what each performance is about, prioritising an entertaining performance ahead of focusing on any particular facet.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine June 2017)

  • 'The fact it is so easily upgradable, with separate phono stages and different cartridges, only plays further into its hands as being pretty much the ideal entry-level product… At last, there’s an almost-all-in-one, budget turntable that treats your records as music and not a mere curiosity.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine June 2017)

The arm on this turntable can play most any cartridge from Ortofon, Grado, Audio Technica, etc. Personally I have the Grado Prestige Gold and the ground removes any possible hum (the ground cable is very important). The ground terminates on my Vincent PHO8, because I love this preamp. It plays flawlessly, and when it ends it returns to the post and stops. This isn't my first table since I also own the Rega RP3, Audio Technica AT-150Mlx, with a Musical Fidelity V90 preamp (this preamp works so well with the top MM Carts from Audio Technica).
