Product Description

Arcam Solo Movie 5.1 is the flagship Arcam Solo model, combining the hi-fi sound quality of the stereo Arcam Solo Music, with 5.1 channels of amplification, giving you the best of hi-fi and home cinema from a single box.

Enjoy listening to music with the sound quality of Arcam hi-fi separates and enjoy home cinema sound (with a suitable 5.1 speaker package) with the quality of an Arcam AV Receiver all from a single, slimline unit.

Technology

Incorporating technology developed with a world-leading DVD chip manufacturer, Solo Movie 5.1 has to be seen to be believed. Since its introduction in 2004, Arcam’s Solo music system has brought audiophile music reproduction to a whole new group of music lovers. Solo redefines the style and performance of compact Hi-Fi & Movie systems. It brings Arcam’s legendary sound quality into ‘non-Hi-Fi’ homes previously only possible from large separate components.

Class G Amp

Class G uses multiple power supplies over a single supply. If a dynamic signal is beyond the capability of the first power supply, the secondary supply is gradually brought in up to full rated power output as required. This very efficient design only uses additional power when required. Modern high-speed silicon makes this switch faster than required, way beyond the audio bandwidth. The first lower-power supply runs in pure Class A with no crossover distortion. The secondary supply enables extreme levels of power due to little energy wastage.

Connectivity

Solo 5.1 boasts connectivity and playback abilities far beyond current high performance “one box” home cinema systems. Featuring a BD/DVD/SACD/CD drive and 250W of amplification in a stylish, low-resonance enclosure, the Solo movie provides high-quality room-filling sound. Four HDMI, coax, optical, phono and 3.5mm line inputs allow for flexible system building without being over complex.

Music Sources

Audio can also be streamed to the movie via Bluetooth and also UPnP network either wired or wirelessly. Finally, an FM/ DAB/DAB+ tuner is available. Onboard decoding of all current HD audio formats ensures absolutely no sonic detail is lost. The internal video scaler, HDMI switching and universal disc playback make it the perfect partner for today’s high definition video displays. However, it's the audiovisual quality, stylishly understated looks and easy-to-use controls that capture the hearts of music and movie fans around the world. Supplied with a multi-page learning backlit remote control.

Press Reviews

  • 'A must have for anyone after stereo hi-fi and home cinema from just one just-add-speakers box; Powerful, authoritative and articulate sound, Bright, crisp and stable picture, Impressive connectivity, 24-bit/192kHz support, Good looking and easy to use.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine December 2016)

  • 'It’s a good job that the Solo Movie 2.1 is such an impressive performer with Full HD material, then. Spielberg’s The BFG looks appealingly bright and clean, the live-action sequences crisp and detailed enough to appreciate the film’s excellent production.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine December 2016)

  • 'Clarity and sharpness levels are easily on par with those of a decent standalone player – not just with Blu-ray playback but during the upscaling of DVDs too.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine December 2016)

  • 'The orchestra’s string section climaxes with apparent ease, with power or authority in copious supply. That’s partly down to the Solo Movie 2.1 being blessed with Class G amplification, which essentially switches between multiple power supplies to deliver a lot of output (needed for a big, powerful sound) without wasting electricity as heat, or causing distortion.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine December 2016)

  • 'The application of Arcam’s ‘bringing music and movies to life’ maxim may be intended across the brand’s expansive portfolio of AV and hi-fi kit, but it also singularly pertains to the Solo Movie 2.1.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine December 2016)
