The classic Acoustic Energy AE1 speakers have become the audio-industry benchmark standard for a compact studio monitor loudspeaker, available in black or new for 2011 gloss cherry. Released again in 2005/6 in its original form, the AE1 was designed from the outset as a semi-professional monitor, with painstaking attention to detail in the design and construction of the cabinets, crossovers and baffles to ensure the AE1s reproduces complex, dynamic material as faithfully as possible.
Despite its diminutive size the AE1 Classic offers the soundstage, depth and breadth of much larger loudspeakers thanks to its innovative metal drivers and reflex ported cabinet. The extremely rigid design and high power handling creates a sophisticated blend of clarity, speed and dynamics that once again sets the standard for small box loudspeakers in both the studio and the home.

"...the AE1s summon a coherent, expansive soundstage with the emphasis on integration and focus." (What Hi-Fi Magazine)
"For: substantial build, an open and informative sound " (What Hi-Fi Magazine)
"Brilliantly successful remake of an iconic design; not flawless, but surely one of the most musical speakers ever made" (Hi-Fi World Magazine)
"Classics, certainly. But not quite the best around. With the Creation’s Biff Bang Pow, there’s casually efficient timing with tautly expressive low frequencies and an eloquent midrange that’s on the lean side but loaded with information. This confidence carries through to the top of the frequency range, although careless system matching will put their hackles up. This edginess, and a slight lack of fluidity compared with some here, prevents the AE1 Classics receiving an unequivocal recommendation – but they seem set to endure for a while longer yet." (What Hi-Fi Magazine)
"The most immediately apparent strength of the AE1 is the cohesion from the high treble all the way through to the lower mid bass. There is absolutely no perception of where the tweeter and midbass driver hand over to one another..."(Hi-Fi Choice Magazine May 2013)
"...extremely enjoyable to listen to. Musicality is a hard attribute to define, but over a wide variety of material the AE1 has it." (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine May 2013)
"...a hugely entertaining loudspeaker and if you and if you value the integration and liveliness that it brings to music reproduction, it is worth seeking out." (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine May 2013)
"...Lively, cohesive and energetic sound; excellent build...a lively and communicative speaker" (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine May 2013)
