The Acoustic Energy 301s face some stiff rivals at their price point - but they are more than good enough to hold their own against the competition. They have a deliciously refined and detailed sound that doesn't favour any area of the frequency spectrum to the detriment of others. Bass is also admirably deep and well-rounded while mid-range and treble stay crisp and clean. Add to that a superb standard of build and finish and the little Acoustic Energys have to be an essential audition for anyone looking for a pair of stand mount speakers at or anywhere near this price. (What Hi-Fi Magazine)
Tonal balance is lucid and fast, the presentation detailed and focused with plenty of bite and attack. It's not an especially rich of beguilling sort of sound, but it is clear and nicely open. Clarity is excellent, with good separation and fast crisp attack. The treble is incisive, but not overly forward. (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine)
Acoustic Energy's new 301 is a very capable compact loudspeaker that punches well above its weight given such a relatively modest selling price. It's detailed and clear, and will show subtle differences when partnered with top-class source components and amplification. Recommended. (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine)
For: balanced, detailed and engaging sound; fine build and finish; unfussy about positioning. Against: no shortage of great rivals. Verdict? The 301s are terrific speakers for the money. They're the most competitive Acoustic Energys we've heard in years. (What Hi-Fi Magazine)
Move away from sound and these speakers continue to impress. Their build and finish - buyers are offered a choice of gloss white or black - shows plenty of care, and they're not particularly fussy about positioning or partnering kit. (What Hi-Fi Magazine)
They're good enough to worry the best in the class. (What Hi-Fi Magazine)
