Wharfedale Jade 5 are compact floorstanders, built to offer an unbeatable, full rounded sound from a sleek and stylish loudspeaker, available in a choice of Black Oak, Vintage Cherry, Piano Black or Burgundy Burr real wood finishes. Use Jade 5 on their own in a stereo system, or together with with other Wharfedale Jade speakers in an AV set-up. These can be combined with Wharfedale Jade 1, Jade 3, Jade 7, Jade C1 or C2 centre channel and/or Jade SR surround speakers for 5.1 or 7.1 channels of stunning home cinema sound.

Jade 5 is a completely new speaker, featuring proprietary technology and design features from the flagship Airedale Heritage Classic speakers, chosen to make it a high end performance speaker at a reasonable price level. Jade 5 are able to sound expressive and highly detailed with a range of music, without coloration, irrespective of the room and faithful to the recording.

Beautiful Cabinets

Finish on these speakers is stunning. Made from Crystalam, a proprietary material, the curved design is formed from bonded layers of natural wood elements and composites. This reduces sound leakage and panel vibrations to a point below that which is audible, spreads resonances over a wider frequency range and avoids the speakers having an "acoustic signature" prevalent on many more conventional box type speakers.

What does this achieve? The cabinets no longer have an audible influence on the sound, resulting in a speaker that defines neutral sonic performance.

Drivers

Lots of speakers are released with marketing that suggest they are "designed for high end sound" or feature "new high quality drive units", but in practice this may mean little more than a better looking speaker dome or an OEM driver from another manufacturer. The Jade 5 speakers are a little different.

Wharfedale really have gone back to the drawing board and created new, proprietary cones made from Acufiber, a material that utilises the responsiveness of carbon fibre and glass in a woven matrix. These drivers are made to be neutral radiators, neutral in sound with natural damping characteristics that reduce colouration yet responsive enough to deliver musical transients without dulling - the perfect balance.

Crossovers

Like the Jade 1 and Jade 3, Jade 5 is a 3-way design (Jade 7 is 4-way), and use phase linear crossovers set-up for all drivers to integrate seamlessly, resulting again in a more netural, cohesive and natural sound that gives you a seat right there in front of the musical performance you'd be forgiven for thinking was the real thing.

The Jade range was designed by multi-award-winning Peter Comeau, who says “The goal is to allow the listener to become involved in the musical performance by immersion in the full emotion and passion engendered by the original musicians. We call this the Wharfedale Experience.”
