The Wharfedale DX-1 HCP speaker system proves that small is indeed beautiful, a compact 5.1 surround sound speaker package which is both compact, stylish, very affordable and offers hi-fi speaker quality sound - available in gloss black or gloss white. For those of you that want a new surround sound system but can't let the living room be consumed by larger speakers, the DX-1 HCP package is for you.

DX-1 HCP consists of 4 x satellite speakers for the front and rear channels , a similarly small centre speaker and powerful yet compact 150W active subwoofer. The speakers may look familiar to those of you with keen eyes - they take their style cues from the multiple winning Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 bookshelf speakers, with curved cabinets and silver cone surrounds, shrunk to a much smaller size for this package.

Each DX-1 Satellite is only 19cm high and features a 19mm silk dome tweeter with 75mm mid/bass driver with woven polypropylene cone. The closed box design means they can be placed very close to a wall without affecting performance or creating boomy bass. The DX-1 Centre combines two 75mm mid/bass drivers either side of a 19mm tweeter and is filled with a special material to control airflow, resulting in a very rich and detailed centre sound - critical for crystal clear speech and the overall movie surround experience!

The DX-1 Subwoofer features a 200mm long throw bass driver with class D 150W amplifier. Although the small satellite speakers offer reasonable bass, the sub fills in the gaps with fast, deep and well defined bass from a very compact unit. Thankfully, the sub integrates with the speaker perfectly, making this package sound incredible with many different movie soundtracks, multi-channel music and stereo music with/without the use of the subwoofer.
