A Sonos multi room system
such as the Play:3
or Play:5
allows you to enjoy synchronised or different music in 2, 3, 4, 5 or more
rooms in your house. You can also play music stored on your computer, NAS
drive or internet music services by adding a BR100
Bridge. Add additional Play:3
or Play:5
music players in each room. If the room in question already has a hi-fi
system, add multi room music with a ZP90.
If another room doesn't have a hi-fi system but does have speakers, add multi
room with a ZP120.
Multi Room Systems
The best systems for enjoying music throughout

Streaming allows you to enjoy music stored on
your computer, smartphone or tablet or internet music services like Spotify or
Last FM with high quality sound. Enjoy streaming music with your
existing hi-fi using a digital
streamer. If you don't already have a hi-fi, see our one
box streaming systems.
If you don't want to have your computer turned on all
the time to listen to stored music, use a high quality NAS
Storage Drive, or buy a dedicated Music
Server (many of which combine streaming with storage). If your budget is lower, you can use a Wireless
Adaptor to play music wirelessly from your computer or smartphone
(although control of the music remains with your computer or smartphone).
Streaming
Systems If you're selecting a new system and want streaming capabilities, one of
these one box systems is the answer.
It includes everything you need - just add speakers!
Digital
Streamers If you want to
enter the world of streaming with your existing hi-fi system, select
one of these. Most will play music from your PC, NAS drive, smart
phone, internet music services & control it all.
NAS Drives Rather
than store music on your main computer (which will need to be kept on,
used for music selection and isn't optimised for sound), store it on a NAS
drive & control what you play from a digital streamer.
Music Servers
If you don't have or want all the
features of a digital streamer and purely want to play stored music on
your hi-fi for convenience, a high quality music server will store
and allow control of your music (often also with a free smartphone app).
USB to
S/PDIF Converters Whilst it's
now common for a digital streamer or DAC to feature a USB input, if your
current model doesn't, you can use one of these to convert the USB
output from your computer to a coaxial digital input.
Wireless Adaptors
For an easy (and cost effective) way to play
music wirelessly from your computer or smartphone and/or in another
room, use one of these. Don't forget though, all control of the music
remains with the computer or smartphone.
